Our Craft
MADE BY HAND.
Every Halford pair passes through skilled hands from the first cut of leather to the final polish.
We work in small quantities, giving each pair the time and attention needed to shape, assemble and finish it properly. The result is footwear that carries the character of the materials and the people who made it.
THE MAKING PROCESS
-
01 — CUTTING
Each upper begins with carefully selected leather, cut to the pattern with attention to grain, texture and consistency.
-
02 — SHAPING
The leather is formed around the last to create the silhouette, proportions and structure of the shoe.
-
03 — ASSEMBLY
The upper, lining, sole and other components are brought together by hand, with each stage checked before moving forward.
-
04 — FINISHING
Edges are refined, surfaces are cleaned and polished, and the final pair is inspected before it leaves the workshop.
MATERIALS THAT MATTER
-
01 — LEATHER
We select leathers for their character, durability and how they respond to shaping and finishing. Natural variations in grain are part of what makes each pair distinctive.
-
02 — LININGS
Soft, breathable linings help improve comfort and give the inside of the shoe the same considered finish as the exterior.
-
03 — SOLES
Soles are selected to complement the design, balancing structure, durability and the intended character of the shoe.
-
04 — HARDWARE & DETAILS
Buckles, bits, stitching and finishing details are chosen to work with the design rather than overpower it.
THE HUMAN ELEMENT
Handcrafted footwear carries subtle differences that mass production removes. Slight variations in grain, finishing and handwork are part of the character of each pair.
What remains consistent is the standard we work toward: considered proportions, careful construction and a finish worthy of the materials used.
