Care Guide
Proper care will help preserve the appearance, structure and longevity of your Halford footwear.
Different leathers and finishes require different treatment, so always use products suited to the material of your pair and avoid excessive moisture, heat or harsh cleaning agents.
GENERAL CARE
-
01 — GIVE THEM REST
Avoid wearing the same pair every day. Allowing your shoes time to rest helps the leather recover and moisture dissipate naturally.
-
02 — STORE THEM PROPERLY
Keep footwear in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight and heat. Shoe trees can help maintain the shape between wears.
-
03 — KEEP THEM DRY
If your shoes become wet, allow them to dry naturally at room temperature. Avoid heaters, hair dryers or direct heat, which can damage the leather.
CARE BY MATERIAL
-
01 — SMOOTH LEATHER
Wipe away surface dust with a soft cloth or horsehair brush. Condition occasionally with a suitable leather conditioner, then apply a matching or neutral polish as needed. Avoid over-conditioning, as too much product can soften or darken the leather.
-
02 — SUEDE
Use a suede brush to lift the nap and remove light surface dirt. For marks, use a suede eraser or cleaner designed specifically for suede. Avoid standard leather creams, polishes and excessive water.
-
03 — EMBOSSED LEATHER
Clean gently with a soft, dry cloth, following the direction of the embossed grain. Use only a small amount of suitable leather conditioner when required and avoid heavy wax buildup, which can settle into the textured surface.
-
04 — WOVEN LEATHER
Use a soft brush or cloth to remove dust from between the woven strips. Clean gently without pulling or stretching the weave. Apply conditioner sparingly and work it into the leather with a soft cloth rather than saturating the surface.
POLISHING & CONDITIONING
Always test any cleaner, conditioner or polish on a small, discreet area before applying it to the entire shoe.
Use products intended for the specific leather or finish of your pair, apply them sparingly and allow the footwear to dry naturally before buffing or wearing.
For suede and other specialty finishes, avoid conventional leather polish unless the product is specifically designed for that material.
